PD Sarge delivers safety messages to Mount Isa

Thanks to Mount Isa City Council’s community grants, Mount Isa PCYC and Mount Isa Police will be able to deliver the best quality personal safety messages to Mount Isa kids.

The community grant, which was awarded to PCYC and police, will purchase a mascot, ‘PD Sarge’, which will attend presentations on personal safety, and help engage young kids in receiving and remembering important safety strategies.

Police can deliver personal safety messages to any age group and background:

  • The ‘safety hand’ is used to talk to young children about telling someone if you feel unsafe.
  • Early education about the use of Triple Zero (000) is vital, in the event of an emergency to themselves or someone else, and remembering the phone number.
  • Personal safety includes explaining what police do.
